This piece was my final project in Lorelei Pepi's Fundamentals of Animation course at Harvard (Spring 2005). My aim was to incorporate several different techniques and concepts explored throughout the semester -- live-action video, pixillation (stop-motion with people as subjects), drawing, stop motion (using era-appropriate beauty tools, textiles, paintings, pamphlets, and toys), text interpretation, and pastiche. I used Eileen Ford's Book of Model Beauty as my basis, illustrating its how-to's for fashion, exercise, and "the art of sitting pretty." The approach is both loving and critical.
