.video. .stills. .ring dings. .about: ring dings.

This was my first entry into the production, rather than the study, of video art, in a studio class with artist Elisabeth Subrin. The assignment was to first create a soundscape of abstract sounds, and then to use that soundtrack, manipulated as desired, as a basis upon which to develop a video piece.
The "plot" of Ring Dings is largely unclear (as with many experimental works), but, in simplified terms, is a journey into the center of a ring ding, and the world that lies beyond it. Or something like that. I'm not entirely sure, but I have some ideas. The visuals explore little girls in multiples who wear identical clothing, music boxes and mechanical people, manual labor, containers, heaven, the kitchen, and bricks. I also incorporated brief clips from the movies "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and "Alice Sweet Alice" (stills from those films, above).
